Saturday 14th September saw the Men’s Pairs Competition in the Heyford Village Hall. It was a keenly fought competition by the five men’s pairs teams that took part.
Congratulations to the winners Bob Bates and Geoff Groom, being presented with the trophy here, by former Short Mat Captain, Ray Haddon. The runners-up this year were Peter McLean and Gil Guglielmi.
Thanks to all the spectators who came along for a most enjoyable Saturday afternoon, with tea, cakes and raffle prizes enjoyed by all.
Next competition coming up is the Benco Shield, on the 19th October 2024. To enter, don’t forget to put your name on the board in the Village Hall. Alternatively, please contact either Rosemary Dunkley or Bernard Alder.
Below are some pictures from the day, including the trophy they were all fighting for. There were some close rounds, as you can see from the picture. Here a measure was even beyond calipers. Next out was a £20 note to see if that might fit in either of the gaps! The final conclusion was a drawn end.
