Heyford Bowls Club has a fabulous, active club social life that forms a large part of the club’s profile. Particularly during Outdoor Bowls off season. Many members join the club as social members for this very reason, enjoying sitting around the outdoor green in the summer sun watching family members and friends bowling. We have a licensed bar throughout the year, in the Outdoor Bowls clubhouse. Numerous social events are organised throughout the year, continuing on during the Outdoor Bowls close season.
During our playing season, events such as Ascot Ladies Day are organised in the clubhouse. Every year, to mark the end of the Outdoor Bowls season in September, we hold Club Gala Day. Members attend in fancy dress, to much hilarity. Many members even like to make their own costumed. Have you ever tried to play bowls wearing a homemade Rubik’s Cube outfit or being a Captain America doppelgänger! The day is always concluded enjoying a drink and a barbecue to round off the Outdoor bowls season nicely.
Outside of the Outdoor Bowls playing season, numerous events are organised by our excellent Events Organisers. These include an Easter party, with prizes for best dressed table/bonnets, numerous quiz nights, Casino nights, ‘Uno’ nights and always ending the year with a Christmas party. There are always prizes to be won, either from raffles or a part of the evening’s entertainment. Most events provide food, such as barbecues for outdoor events or a buffet for indoor events, for a small charge.
