London Night

Saturday 20th April saw our Short Mat Club Captain Rosemary Dunkley receive a surprise celebration for her 80th birthday. Some of our club’s best social events are those that are not part of the formal Social Events calendar.

Here is Rosemary, dressed as a Pearly Queen, sat beside her beautiful birthday cake., at the start of the evening.

Shirley and Mick Collins, our relentless “Event Organisers” really pushed the boat out with this one! Both organizing and hosting a themed “London Night” for all to enjoy.

Every one came along in a variety of “London” fancy dress outfits. From a raven from the Tower of London, chimney sweeps, spivs, and even our King and Queen. There were a number of entertainments, from some lovely short acts with some great joviality for club members, a “guess the London landmark” picture quiz, horse racing with real live club members and a sing-along to round off proceedings.

Many thanks to Mick and Shirley, and those who help with all the preparations and food, and to all those who turned up. Fabulous evening.

Check out the Heyford Bowls Club Albums (2024 London Night gallery), with some lovely photos capturing all the enjoyment and proceedings over the evening.
