A lovely afternoon was spent on Saturday 23rd March, for the Short Mat Ladies Pairs competition, in the village hall. It was a relaxed and friendly competition, with plenty of light-hearted banter, and a half-time break with tea and home-made cakes. The finalists, Sandy Davis and Jean Culling vs. Val Smith and Chris Phillipps contested seven ends in the same friendly manner. The victors, Val and Chris, taking the Rose Bowl trophy 7–12, which was presented by Short Mat Captain, Rosemary Dunkley.
Congratulations to the worthy winners and many thanks to all the lady bowlers who took part. We look forward to the next competition, the Mixed Singles, in the village hall on Saturday, April 27th.
