Saturday 13th September was the Heyford Bowls Club Short Mat Men’s Pairs Competition, taking place in Heyford Village Hall from 1:00 pm.
Hearty congratulations to this year’s winners Mick Collins and Gil Guglielmi, as seen smiling in this picture, shortly after receiving their trophy. Good progress for Gil, he was runner-up last year!
Thanks to all the spectators who came along for a most enjoyable Saturday afternoon, where close competition, tea, cakes and raffle prizes were enjoyed. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, especially now our weather taken a sudden turn for the worse!
Runners-up this year were Peter McLean and Geoff Groom. In this picture of the four finalists, Geoff is centre left and Peter centre right. Strangely, Geoff won it last year, so looks like he actually swapped places with Gil!

The Next Short Mat competition coming up is the Mixed Pairs Benco Shield. This year, taking place, on Saturday 11th October. Starting again at 1:00pm. To enter, don’t forget to contact either Rosemary Dunkley or Bernard Alder. Alternatively, put your name on the board in the Village Hall, as soon as this year’s competition entries form is posted.
