2025 Gala Day

Sunday 7th of September saw one of the many highlights of our outdoor season, the annual Bowls Club Gala Day. Always a popular event, many of our members turned up sporting fancy dress, for a day of bowling, chat, food, drink, and a general good time.

From just a select few of the pictures that were taken (see below), you can see just how much our members enjoy the day. This year we had everyone from the ‘Queen of Hearts’, ‘Where’s Wally?’, a trio of ‘Mario Bros’., hippies, Roman Emperors and clowns, to name but a few. The fancy dress competition was won by Carol Tuckley, totally unrecognisable, but sporting a good beard. To see all the photos, check out our 2025 Gala Day in our Heyford Bowls Club Gallery.

We would also like to pass on some special thanks to Mick Parker, for all the photos he took on the day, Mick and Shirley Collins, for their sterling job of organising the whole day, including the teams, and BBQ. Also thanks to Zena, Lorraine and Jay Foulks for helping with the bar and food. In fact, most people lent a helping hand as needed throughout the day, to make it all run smoothly. Thank-you all.

This year’s Gala Shield Trophy was won by our ‘Queen of Hearts’, Marion Cooper and Hippie, Peter McClean, coming first overall after four rounds of Aussie Pairs. See the picture below, where they’ve been photo bombed by witch Maurice!

Don’t forget, all this year’s trophies will be presented at our Annual Presentation Evening, taking place on Saturday the 8th November at 7:30 p.m.
