Heyford Bowls Short Mat

Short Mat bowling Heyford Bowls club was founded in 1991, initially to play the Short Mat format in the Village Hall. This continues to the present day with regular sessions on Wednesday afternoons and evenings throughout the year.

After the recent pandemic restrictions enforced on us all perhaps you are now looking for something to get you out of the house and meeting people again. What could be better than trying something local to you and where you will meet fellow villagers.

Short Mat is a great sport for all abilities and is ideal for complete beginners. There is always plenty of opportunity for you to chat to current members and get help and instruction on the techniques.

We do have spare bowls available for you to try to enable you to find out if this is a possible sport for you.We only ask that you come with a pair of clean flat soled shoes or you can play in your socks if necessary to protect our bowling mats. We make a small charge of £2 per session to include tea/coffee in the break and if you take to the sport there is an annual membership of £10.
